My client is a specialist design practice with an integrated approach to transport, placemaking and engineering. Their holistic approach ensures both innovative and deliverable design solutions and supports their vision to create better places through good design.
 
The transport team in the south-east is thriving and an exciting opportunity has arisen to drive the growth of one of the UK's leading independent consultancies.
 
As such they are seeking an expert in the field with extensive experience in advising clients on the transport implications of land use developments to join as Associate / Associate Director based in either London or Reading.
 
The role will involve supporting the delivery of projects for current established clients across the UK and overseas, as well as contributing to the growth of the business by developing new opportunities, winning new and repeat business and mentoring and developing the team in the London and south east region.
 
The ideal candidate will be an expert in their field and able to provide creative and strategic Transport Planning advice on a wide range of schemes. They should have extensive experience of delivering and managing larger scale projects with both public and private sector clients as well as developing and maintaining new successful workstreams. The successful candidate will also be responsible for growing and directing a team of professionals. They will need to demonstrate strong leadership qualities and work winning as well as having a track record in line management and mentoring.
 
As a confident communicator verbally and in writing, they will be required to present and communicate their ideas clearly and concisely both internally and also to a wide range of external audiences. Chartership with a relevant professional body would be advantageous but not essential.
 
They will also have:
 
Extensive experience in development focused transport planning and providing innovative and strategic advice to clients
Ability to undertake a leading role in the technical delivery of projects and ensuring outputs are of the highest quality
Wide ranging knowledge and experience of interpreting and applying best practice design guidance such as LTN 1/20, DMRB, Manual for Streets
An excellent understanding of the planning process in England
Ability to lead on bids and financial proposals
A track record of developing and maintaining new workstreams
Excellent communication skills and interface with clients
Ability to mentor and develop junior staff and undertake line management responsibilities
Excellent Project Management skills
