Assistant Project Manager - Water Sector
Location: South East (Field & Office-Based)
Employment Type: Long-term Contract (with a view to permanent)
Pay Rate: Up to £27.22 per hour (Umbrella)
Are you an Assistant Project Manager with strong experience across utilities and civils, especially in the water sector?
This is an exciting opportunity to join a major framework delivering vital infrastructure upgrades across the region.
You'll support the Delivery Team to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient execution of field operations, helping to manage productivity, reporting, permitting, quality assurance, and client liaison.
Key Responsibilities
- Support project delivery across water utility works with a focus on compliance, data integrity, and H&S standards
- Report weekly to Programme/Project Managers and clients on progress, site audits, and operational updates
- Review RAMS and manage day-to-day coordination of subcontractors, resources, and material delivery
- Conduct site inspections, PPE checks, hazard spotting, and ensure compliance with permit and NRSWA requirements
- Respond to escalations, customer complaints, and ensure SLA jeopardy management is in place
- Liaise with highways authorities, manage job data accuracy, and uphold photographic evidence requirements
- Maintain project documentation, submit reports, and support audit readiness across all job packs
- Promote a safety-first culture and reinforce CDM responsibilities throughout the supply chain
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience in assistant project or site delivery roles within utilities or water environments
- Comfortable coordinating across operations, data, H&S, and customer-facing elements
- Knowledge of NRSWA, CDM, RAMS, and permit-to-work systems
- Able to prioritise under pressure and work to demanding SLAs
- Strong IT, reporting, and organisational skills
Desirable Qualifications
- HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction
- SMSTS Certification
- NEBOSH (General or Construction)
- Water Hygiene
- ILM Level 5 or similar management training
