Area Manager (Highways Capital Works)
Salary: £51,000 per annum + Company Car
Location: Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire


Are you an experienced Highways Maintenance Manager, now seeking an exciting and fresh opportunity to work on Capital Works for an industry leading organisation?
 
This is an exciting opportunity to join an industry leading company who are responsible for looking after over 50,000 kms of the UK's highways network, delivering specialist highway services across the largest highways maintenance portfolio within the UK, including strategic road network, DBFO motorway and trunk roads, and the local authority network.

My client are now seeking an Area Manager with front line responsibility for all capital works on the HE East contract (Area 6 & 8), to include pavement schemes, structures, technology, street lighting, soft estate and drainage.
In addition to delivery, you will also be responsible for the financial and commercial performance of the works, reporting on a regular basis within CVR meetings.
 

Key Responsibilities:

·To manage the day to day capital works operations on the Highways England East Maintenance and Response Contract.
·To plan, control, manage and co-ordinate all operational activities in line with company policy including costs vs value, processes and procedures.  
·Personnel safety and safety of all personnel under your authority
·To direct resources of people, vehicle, plant, materials, sub-contractors and premises, to achieve the aims and objectives of the contract business plan
·Ensure that operations are carried out in a commercially astute manner ensuring best value
·Carry out investigations or report writing as required and as requested by direct line management
·Undertake operational site audits to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
·Ensure that site measurements/valuations are recorded and promptly processed, good commercial and financial processes are followed.
·Assist management with presentations for briefing sessions and safety stand down days
·Compliance with the company's policies and procedures
·Preparation and modification of Risk Assessments, Method Statements and COSHH
 
 
Person Specification:

·To be considered for this role, you must have proven experience commensurate with a management role in a major company
·You MUST have proven knowledge and experience within Highways Maintenance/Capital Works.
·The ability to offer hands on and active support for colleagues and their direct team, with a personal approach and style of management that ensures you are a role model for others in the team
·In addition to knowledge of pavement schemes, structures, technology, street lighting, soft estate and drainage, the ideal candidate will have particular strengths with Traffic Management. This will form a big part of the role.
·Management of your direct team, as well as sub contractors
·Those with particular strengths in people management will also be preferred over those who demonstrate only client lead management skills from a contracting perspective.
·You must be computer literate and identify urgent requests and actions.


 
Salary on offer is in the region of £51,000 per annum with a fully expensed company car, depending on experience.
