Looking for a secure role, working as a controller for a large fleet service and hire company? Working for a national company in an industry that supports key workers?
 
My client have a modern office based on the outskirts of Stevenage. They are a Plant and Fleet solutions company that support the Water, Gas, power, Construction, Telecom and Highways industries. They are offering a great opportunity to join a small team that have a great work ethic and work excellently as a team.
 
The role is working as a transport controller / scheduler, you will be responsible for scheduling the day to day responsibilities of the drivers within the workforce.
 
The role is based on 40 hours per week 7.30am to 5pm with breaks. It comes with a competitive salary and benefits.
 
Responsibilities:
·Processing and documenting all hire and off hire requirements through the system
·General administration around hiring
·Liaise with other departments with regards to the availability of Plant & Equipment
·Plan the quickest and most effective routes for the drivers
·Check failed deliveries and collections and rebook the hire
·Ensure 3rd party delivery companies are compliant with the companies H&S procedures
·Supervisor driver route planning checks and ensure the drivers take safe and responsible routes
·Run reports to ensure ensure Plant and equipment is collected within 72 hours of request
·Ensure all drivers timesheets are in on time and sent off for processing
·Manage all plant & tools deliveries to and from the depot
·Ensure safety briefings and toolbox talks are undertaken by the drivers
·Ensure all drivers are compliant with driver working hour laws
·Maintain company FORS to ensure all driving training is completed
·Support the Plant Manager with H&S audits of the drivers
 
 
Skills, knowledge and qualification requirements:
 
·Good people skills and ability to lead others
·Highly motivated to work in a Team and on your own
·Excellent communication skills in person, email and on the phone
·Relevant experience in the Transport or Hire industries (Essential)
·Experience in Scheduling (Desirable)
·Good IT skills including MS Office and ability to pick up new software
·Experience and knowledge of FORS (Highly Desirable)
·A good understanding of Driver Hours regulations and Tachograph legislation (Highly Desirable)
