Job description

My client are looking for a motivated and experienced Technical Manager to help grow the team and take a leading role in the future of transport strategy, business case development and transport modelling and appraisal. The successful candidate will help secure and deliver a range of transport planning projects and contribute to business development. 
What does the role involve?   
In this role, you'll be working within a team environment. You'll support in the delivery of a wide variety of projects within the growing Transport modelling and appraisal team and you'll be involved in a range of activities from bidding through to client management and project delivery. The individual the team are looking for will help to lead and support growth in the following core areas:
·Business case advisory.
·Transport modelling and appraisal.
·Transport strategy and policy..
·Securing new work. 
 
To be successful in this role you'll be: 
Required to work with multi-disciplinary teams across our Advisory & Planning, and Infrastructure business units in the UK and our teams in Europe. You will be able to demonstrate the following professional experience and personal qualities:
·Post-graduate experience in the Transport sector - essential.
·A Master's degree in Transport Planning, or a related subject - desirable but not essential.
·Thought leadership - desirable but not essential.
·Leading and guiding the development of business case and strategy projects - essential.
·Experience leading bids for local authority projects and/or frameworks - essential.
·Proven ability and interest in the development of innovative transport schemes - desirable but not essential.
·Have strong problem-solving skills and are passionate to find a quick, innovative, and practical solution - essential.
·Good knowledge of relevant transport modelling guidance such as TAG, DMRB, PDFH - desirable
·Experience in managing transport modelling projects which use strategic modelling software such as SATURN, VISUM and CUBE - desirable
·Some knowledge of transport appraisal and associated software (TUBA, COBALT, QUADRO, WITA etc) - desirable but not essential
·Excellent written communication skills and report writing experience - essential.
·Ability to communicate and work collaboratively to form strong positive working relationships with colleagues and clients - essential.
·Enjoy working in a team environment, sharing knowledge and demonstrate pride in work.
