Are you an experienced Highway or Civil Engineer looking for a chance to run a Major Projects Consultancy division?
 
Our client is looking for an experienced Highway or Civil Engineer to join their team in Nottingham as Team Manager for their Major and Improvements division. You will be responsible for creating
culture and climate that drives continued business growth in the medium to long term ensuring all
activities are delivered to agreed performance and financial targets.
 
Accountabilities:
 
·Lead, coach and develop team members to enable individuals to maximise their potential and deliver business results.
·Accountable for developing the efficiency and productivity of the team to ensure continual
business improvement.
·Proactively identify opportunities to develop new business internally and externally, by identifying areas of expansion and innovation, creating opportunities to increase turnover and profitability.
·Accountable for the reputation of the team across all client bases internally and externally
ensuring the consultancy offer is consistently high quality in all activities.
· Work collaboratively to set the strategy and direction for the Consultancy team to create growth and contribute to steering the direction of the wider business to achieve divisional and business goals.
·Accountable for the team's effective allocation, monitoring and reporting of budgets, to ensure spend control and any arising risks managed.
·Lead and support Health and Safety Management across the service, collaborating with H&S to influence policy and procedures, ensuring that health and safety legislation, policy and best practice are fully adhered to.
·Lead and influence the delivery of a programme of local improvement and highway schemes
including complex civil engineering projects (circa £25-£35m) with high public and political profile on behalf of the client and working with internal and external organisations to deliver key projects.
 
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
 
·Significant previous experience of working in leadership role in a multi-disciplinary team.
·Proven significant experience in the construction and delivery of civil and highway engineering and environmental improvement services and projects with strong evidence of ongoing professional development.
·Proven high level leadership, communication and negotiation skills to lead large teams with
staff at all levels, clients, suppliers and sub-contractors.
·The ability to lead with confidence strategically and operationally with a high degree of autonomy on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
·Be confident to take action to anticipate opportunities and deal with emerging issues
·Confident and credible communication style, able to adapt both written and verbal communication style to suit different audiences' needs.
·Experience of financial management and budgetary control, with experience of managing multiple £ million budgets.
·Ability to make connections of factors impacting upon scheme delivery and team performance nd take appropriate action to direct a response.
·A degree in Civil Engineering, or a related subject and post qualification relevant experience,
or equivalent knowledge gained through practical experience in a highway and/or civil engineering project management environment.
