Sustainable Transport Officer
Role Overview:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Sustainable Transport Officer to join a council in the Home Counties on on a contract basis.
The role focuses on encouraging active, low-emission and sustainable modes of travel. You will work closely with colleagues across departments and engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including councillors, schools, developers, Transport for London (TfL) and members of the public.
Key Responsibilities:
· Deliver a range of sustainable transport projects promoting walking, cycling, and low-emission travel.
· Support the delivery of walking and cycling infrastructure schemes and/or electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
· Engage with internal teams, councillors, schools, developers, TfL and other external partners.
· Manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
· Prepare and support funding bids to secure additional investment for sustainable transport projects.
· Monitor project progress, report outcomes and ensure compliance with relevant strategies and policies.
Candidate Profile:
· Proven experience delivering sustainable transport or infrastructure projects within a local authority or public sector environment.
· Strong project management skills, able to manage multiple schemes simultaneously.
· Experience in delivering walking, cycling and/or EV charging infrastructure.
· Knowledge of the Mayor of London's Transport Strategy and related policy frameworks.
· Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
· Experience preparing or contributing to successful funding bids (desirable).
· Highly organised, energetic and adaptable with a passion for sustainable transport.
