Job description

An exciting opportunity to join an award-winning structural and civil engineering consultancy, delivering innovative and sustainable solutions across a wide range of sectors including private residential, education, multi-storey housing, hospitality, healthcare, and temporary works.

Responsibilities

  • Lead or assist in the structural design of new build and refurbishment projects across multiple sectors.
  • Produce calculations, drawings and specifications in line with British Standards, Eurocodes and client requirements.
  • Liaise effectively with architects, M&E engineers, contractors, clients, and other stakeholders to develop and refine structural solutions.
  • Assess structural feasibility, load paths, material selection and buildability considerations.
  • Undertake site visits, inspections and structural assessments as required.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of practice, processes, and standards.
  • Support the company's sustainability objectives through innovation in materials, methods, and design practices.

Skills & Experience

  • Chartered or near-chartered status (ICE or IStructE).
  • Strong foundation in structural engineering principles with 3-5 years' post-graduate experience.
  • Proven experience delivering structural designs in sectors such as residential, education, healthcare, or hospitality.
  • Competent in structural analysis software (e.g., Tekla Structural Designer, Tedds, Robot, or similar).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Awareness of sustainability, lifecycle impact, and design optimisation.
  • Willingness to conduct site visits and travel when required.
