Our Local Transport Plan for Hertfordshire is a break from the plans that have preceded it and seeks to set the county on a different path in the development of its transport system. With a population of over one million, direct borders with one of the biggest cities in the world, and the fifth highest car ownership in the country the challenge to reduce car usage is significant. However, there is huge potential for increasing sustainable transport within our towns and between adjacent towns.
 
We are looking for a Strategy and Programme Manager who will work with stakeholders to develop transport strategies and programmes of schemes that will enable the county to respond to our transport challenges, proposed growth and deliver the vision of Local Transport Plan. The work in the Highways unit provides a broad range of transport planning opportunities and to use and develop a wide range of technical skills including GIS, communication and engagement, plan development, programme development and working in a political organisation.
We are looking for self motivated and enthusiastic individuals to help us plan and deliver transport schemes to ensure that our residents and visitors are able to travel across the county in the most sustainable way
