Exciting opportunity for a Site Engineer / Site Agent
Are you a dynamic and driven civil engineering professional ready to take the next step in your career? My client is seeking a Site Engineer / Site Agent to join their Highways Delivery team. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the efficient planning and execution of essential highway construction and maintenance works.
This role plays a critical part in the delivery of highway schemes that benefit the people of Leicestershire. You will oversee on-site project activities, ensuring that works are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with technical specifications and quality standards. Working closely with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders, you will drive performance and ensure value-for-money outcomes.
The main duties of the Site Engineer / Site Agent are:
·Lead the project management of highway construction and maintenance schemes.
·Ensure early and effective involvement of contractors and suppliers.
·Develop target prices, health & safety plans, and detailed programmes for project delivery.
·Oversee site operations, monitor sub-contractor performance, and conduct quality assurance checks.
·Manage project costs proactively and ensure contractual compliance.
·Produce and submit technical reports, progress updates, and final accounts in a timely and professional manner.
·Ensure health, safety, environmental and legislative requirements are met on all projects.
·Represent the Highways Delivery team in client meetings and liaise with key stakeholders.
The Site Engineer / Site Agent will have key experience in:
·Holding an HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent (IOSH, NEBOSH or PRINCE2 qualifications are desirable).
·Managing highways infrastructure projects from design through to delivery.
·Working knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., Highways Act, CDM 2015, NRSWA, Traffic Management Act).
·Strong commercial awareness and experience in preparing and managing project budgets.
·Using AutoCAD and other technical tools to develop and review designs.
·Leading project teams, supervising contractors, and ensuring quality and compliance.
·Building strong relationships with public sector bodies, suppliers, and members of the public.
