Job description

We are seeking a Delivery Manager to join a major highways contractor in the South of the UK
 
The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and effective delivery of a portfolio of schemes from a maintenance and repair point of view.
 
Key tasks and accountabilities:
 
·Positively challenge designs, incorporating innovation, knowledge of buildability and best practice.
·Ensuring Principal Contractor CDM duties are complied with including liaison with the Principal Designer
·Reviewing designer's RA's and ensure that CDM responsibilities are fulfilled.
·Excellent planning of works by supporting and enhancing an effective ECI process, bringing together the needs of client, supply chain, network team and community via creating the best plan for each scheme.
·Liaise with Roadspace team to get the initial Roadspace booking. Prepare TTRO if required and prepare diversion route drawings.
·Creating and managing end to end programmes detailing the phases of delivery for each element
·Writing, reviewing and approving CPP's and RAMS for all elements of works.
·Review the quality of 'works packs', ensuring they provide relevant, concise information for safe, effective delivery of quality work on site.
·Deliver detailed handover of works to the allocated supervisor.
·Attend regular Operational meetings to review scheme progress at all stages.
·Being the interface between the scheme supervisor and client teams.
·Playing a key role in project close out including final accounts, As Built Drawings and lessons learnt.
·Supporting the SHE team with any required investigation and reporting of incidents and observations.
·Informing the Communications Team about all planned works and ensure the general public are notified at the appropriate juncture.
·Actively promote Health and Safety in the workplace, setting a good example to other employees and ensuring awareness of and compliance with general Health and Safety responsibilities as set out in the Health and Safety Management System.
·Promoting the customer first ethos to minimise the impact of our works on communities through the quality of works planning and accuracy of the information provided to them.
·Performing other duties as may from time to time be reasonably required.
Skills and Experience required:
 
·Excellent understanding of CDM and health, safety and environmental legislation and responsibilities within the sector
·Proven experience of successfully managing schemes to their completion.
·A solid understanding of resource and programme management
·Ability to analyse problems and create innovative solutions
·Adept communicator able to build strong, lasting relationships with peers, clients and supply chain alike
·Effective supply chain management
·Enthusiasm for continuous improvement through both efficiencies and innovation
·Commercial and contractual awareness with a strong handle of NEC contract principles
·Industry qualification or the equivalent in experience
·Excellent verbal and written communication skills
·Excellent time management skills
·Computer literate with regards to MS Office applications/programme
