Job description
A top quality role for a senior warhead mechanical engineer has come up with a major company in the UK defence and nuclear sector with a fantastic long contract and remote contract opportunity.
- Job Title - Senior Warhead Mechanical Engineer
- Location - Remote (Reading occasionally)
- Contract Length - 18 Months
- Pay Rate - £63.58 Umbrella per hour
This role is going to be spot on for any candidate that has vast experiences in the pressure and vacuum systems and have knowledge in compliances and testing.
Essential:
- Provide technical support for pressure and vacuum systems
- Provide technical support to the designated technical authority for pressure and vacuum systems equipment both static and dynamic
- Review all design information relating to pressure/vacuum equipment including design requirements, engineering drawings and calculations against all codes
- Provide compliance reports that match up with the required codes.
- Provide guidance and awareness for all design management to key stakeholders and ensure codes and compliance are followed
- Provide support to the manufacture or pressure and vacuum systems including the welding, identification on drawings, procedures and qualification, material and NDT testing and inspection.
Key Qualifications:
- HNC/HND in an engineering discipline and associate membership of an appropriate institute or Degree in an engineering discipline or a chartered engineer, but not necessarily both.
- Good working knowledge of Mechanical Engineering practise
- Good working knowledge of Regulations and Standards for Pressure Equipment i.e. Pressure Equipment Directive and Pressure Equipment Regulations, Inc PED risk categories and conformity assessments
- Working knowledge of the Design of Pressure and Vacuum Systems
- Working knowledge of one or more relevant vessel/ piping design codes such as PD5500, ASME III, ASME VIII Division 1 2&3, BS EN 13445, BS EN 13480, ASME B31.3, although a deep knowledge of all of these is not expected
- Selecting and Specifying material, Understanding Product Codes
