Job Title: Building Compliance and Safety Manager
Location: Camden, London

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and technically proficient Building Compliance and Safety Manager to join our dynamic team in Camden. As the Building Compliance and Safety Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that Camden's educational premises comply with statutory, best practice, and technical requirements, contributing to the Camden Plan objective of having the best schools in the country.
 
Key Responsibilities:
1.Statutory Compliance and Risk Management:
·Identify and define priorities related to building safety and compliance.
·Lead the management of building assets, focusing on water hygiene, gas safety, electrical safety, asbestos, boundary wall, safe access, insurance inspections, pressure regulations, and fire safety.
·Act as the Responsible Person for water hygiene management.
2.People Management and Communication:
·Provide leadership, training, and motivation to staff, contractors, school personnel, and governors.
·Effectively communicate complex technical information to support and educate internal and external stakeholders.
·Liaise with school leadership, governors, contractors, and colleagues to ensure effective collaboration.
3.Data Management and Reporting:
·Establish and manage policies, practices, and technical standards for compliance.
·Provide integrated central management of processing, monitoring, and validation of all asset data.
·Present complex asset data in various formats for strategic and operational business planning.
4.Objective Delivery:
·Ensure Camden meets statutory obligations for school and children's centers, maintaining compliance and up-to-date premises.
·Manage contractors to ensure competence and compliance with contractual, best practice, and regulatory requirements.
·Maintain clear, accessible, and accurate records to demonstrate compliance to senior management and external auditors.
·Identify funding and manage expenditures within the Health & Safety or wider Property Management budget.
5.Stakeholder Management:
·Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, providing support, advice, and guidance.
·Represent Camden in cross-council meetings and working parties.
 
Qualifications and Experience:
·Degree qualified or able to demonstrate suitable experience.
·Membership of BIFM, CIBSE desirable.
·Detailed knowledge of health and safety legislation and responsibilities.
·IOSH/NEBOSH qualification desirable.
·Proven experience in effectively managing teams and providing complex data to varying audiences.
·Strong understanding of fire safety programs and regulations.
