Job description

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Structural Engineer to join an award-winning structural and civil engineering consultancy known for its innovative and sustainable design approach. The business delivers high-quality engineering solutions across a wide range of sectors including private residential, education, multi-storey developments, hospitality, healthcare, and temporary works.

The Role

As a Senior Structural Engineer, you'll take a leading role in the design and delivery of structural projects, working closely with clients, architects, and contractors to bring creative and practical solutions to life. You'll mentor junior engineers, manage design outputs, and ensure that all projects are delivered to the highest technical and professional standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage structural design projects from concept to completion.
  • Produce and review calculations, drawings, and technical specifications in line with Eurocodes and British Standards.
  • Liaise with architects, M&E engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure coordinated and efficient design solutions.
  • Conduct site inspections, structural assessments, and technical reviews.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Promote sustainable and efficient design methods, materials, and technologies.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement within the business, supporting best practice and innovation.

About You

  • Chartered or near-chartered membership (IStructE or ICE).
  • Minimum of 5 years' post-graduate experience within a UK design consultancy.
  • Strong background in building structures, with experience across sectors such as residential, education, healthcare, or hospitality.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., Tekla Structural Designer, Tedds, Robot, or similar).
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a collaborative mindset.
  • Good commercial awareness and the ability to manage project budgets and programmes.
  • Passion for sustainability, design innovation, and quality engineering.
