Senior Project Engineer / Project Engineer - Water
Location: South London

Join a leading delivery partner within the UK water sector, supporting major programmes across the Thames region. This is an excellent opportunity for a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer to play a key role in the successful delivery of complex water and wastewater projects, working closely with project management, design, commercial, and construction teams.

As a Project Engineer / Senior Project Engineer, you will be central to the delivery of multidisciplinary water projects from design through construction, commissioning, and handover. You will be encouraged to challenge solutions, identify innovation, and improve working practices while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, and within budget.

What you'll be doing
 
·Supporting the Project Manager in the delivery of water and wastewater schemes across the Thames region.
·Managing design coordination, challenging solutions, and identifying opportunities for innovation and value engineering.
·Developing, managing, and updating construction programmes to ensure key milestones are achieved.
·Arranging, chairing, and contributing to collaborative planning and design liaison meetings.
·Preparing and issuing invitations to tender, evaluating returns, and producing cost-benefit analyses with recommendations.
·Coordinating engineering input between designers, supply chain partners, and site teams.
·Managing day-to-day site activities and resolving or escalating delivery issues as required.
·Reviewing contractor and supplier invoices, identifying discrepancies prior to approval.
·Maintaining and managing project risk registers, identifying risks and opportunities, and supporting early warnings.
·Working closely with the Project Quantity Surveyor to develop cost plans, manage commitments, and monitor project outturn costs.
·Supporting procurement activities and preparing requisitions for buyers.
·Ensuring Health & Safety compliance in line with CDM 2015, company standards, and best practice.
·Preparing pre-start packs and managing project documentation and governance systems.
·Supporting commissioning activities and project handover processes.
·Attending Health & Safety, progress, coordination, and stakeholder meetings as required.
 
Experience
·Project management experience within an engineering or construction environment.
·Experience delivering engineering projects under NEC3 forms of contract.
·Background in water, wastewater, or regulated utility projects (non-infrastructure experience advantageous).
·Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams and supply chain partners.
·Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation, including CDM 2015.
·Proven ability to manage programmes, costs, risks, and delivery targets.
Qualifications
·Degree (or equivalent) in a construction or engineering-related discipline.
·Chartered or working toward chartership with a recognised professional body (desirable).
·APMP or equivalent qualification (advantageous).
·Experience using Primavera P6 (desirable).
