Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer looking for an exciting, permanent role?

Our client offer a bespoke service to clients in the Nuclear and Defence industries.
 
·To Lead in all mechanical technical aspects of the project.
·Lead Engineers to produce clear and accurate designs in line with the project specification, budget constraints and associated standards - job specific and per legislation.
·Lead technical meetings with clients/customers and suppliers in a professional manner.
·Creation and checking of written reports as required.
·To create and manage technical documentation such as design risk assessments, calculations (mechanical and structural), 2D documentation, 3D models and compilation of technical files.
·Ensure that deliverables are planned and completed to the requisite standard within the project timescale with the Project Manager and Chief Engineer.
·Liaise with Sales, EC&I, Production Engineering, Quality and Purchasing to deliver high quality integrated deliverables.
·Provide technical support to sales, via scoping calculations, sketches, 2D/3D design and written content to enhance the sales team when required.
·Check Test plans and provide support to Assembly and Test, O&M production, and the supply chain via visits and providing a point of contact for the design Dept, allowing for quality support during build and commissioning.
·Mentor to junior members of the mechanical engineering team.
 
Key Skills/Experience
Essential
·Must have a degree in Mechanical Engineering discipline
·Experience in leading large multi-million pound mechanical engineering projects.
·Experienced in delivering projects against structured project plans, through concept, detail design through to manufacture and installation.
·Chartered Engineer Status or able to attain due to sufficient experience and responsibility held in previous positions.
·Able to use hand calculation tools to substantiate designs to the appropriate standards,
i.e., Eurocode, BS13001, BS2573, BS 5950 etc.
·A minimum of 10 years' experience in an Engineering company designing and supporting the design of mechanical systems, with electrical control and integration.
·Must be familiar with 3D CAD software (preferably Inventor).
·Lead Design Risk Assessments and review sign/off check documentation.
·Experience with FMEA and review or documentation.
·To produce design/layouts in 2D and 3D with clear requirements.
·Exposure to manufacture/testing/installation where their designs have been built.
·Work with the Chief Engineer and the to educate and encourage younger and less experienced engineers.
 
Desirable
·Proficient in calculations software, MathCAD or similar.
·Experience in using FEA software, Staad, Ansys, Nastran or similar.
·Welded structures knowledge and how to work within the limits of national and international Codes.
