Job description
Are you a Senior Landscape Architect with experience working on major UK infrastructure?
Do you have experience working on both design and delivery?
Locations: Birmingham or London
Salary: £65,000 - £75,000 (Birmingham) or £70,000 - £80,000 (London)
Starting Date: ASAP
This is your chance to join the largest landscape project of its kind in Europe. As a Senior Landscape Design Manager, you will play a critical client-side role in shaping a lasting green legacy for the UK.
You will be part of a project delivering approximately 3,500 hectares of landscape and ecology mitigation, including 7-8 million trees and 400,000 meters of hedgerows. Your work will be essential to our long-term vision of "knitting the countryside back together" after construction.
The Role:
Reporting to the Head of Landscape, you will join a small, expert team as the third senior manager at this level. This is a strategic role focused on oversight and assurance, not hands-on design. You will be the client's "strong voice in the room," ensuring the project's landscape commitments are met to the highest standard.
The ideal candidate will have:
·Chartered status with the Landscape Institute (CMLI).
·Significant experience in large-scale infrastructure projects. HS2 experience would be hugely beneficial.
·A holistic understanding of the entire project lifecycle, from design and environmental assessment (LVIA) through to on-site delivery and long-term maintenance.
·The confidence to challenge contractors and act as a decisive client representative.
·A pragmatic and flexible approach to help shape the team's success.
Key responsibilities include:
·Providing strategic oversight and assurance on landscape design and on-site delivery.
·Acting as the subject matter expert, working closely with delivery teams and main works contractors.
·Holding contractors to account using NEC contractual tools to drive performance.
·Managing external stakeholder expectations with a politically astute approach.
·Contributing to the long-term strategy for the management and maintenance of our green assets.
