Job description

We are currently seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Housing Options and Homeless Prevention Officer to join a dynamic Housing Solutions team. In this high-impact role, you'll provide expert housing advice, lead on complex homelessness prevention cases, and contribute to the strategic delivery of homelessness and move-on services. You will take a lead role in decision-making, cross-departmental initiatives, and managing complex casework, with a strong focus on statutory duties under the Housing Act 1996 Parts VI and VII.

You'll be a visible and effective senior figure within the team, working collaboratively with colleagues across departments including Social Care, Allocations, and external partners. From attending safeguarding panels to supporting out-of-hours emergency responses, you will be at the forefront of helping those at risk of homelessness access the support and housing they need.

Key Responsibilities
·Provide expert advice on housing legislation and undertake complex homelessness prevention casework
·Lead and support project teams in delivering homelessness prevention, housing advice, and move-on services
·Work closely with internal and external partners to provide seamless service for residents with complex housing needs
·Manage cross-service strategies and represent the council at high-level forums and panels
·Monitor performance against KPIs including case decision timeframes and temporary accommodation reduction
·Conduct independent reviews of homelessness decisions and support complaints and ombudsman investigations
·Use data to inform policy, planning and improve service outcomes

About You
·Significant experience working in housing, homelessness prevention, or similar frontline roles
·A strong working knowledge of Housing Act 1996, relevant case law, and current housing policy
·Proven ability to manage complex casework, including reviews, appeals, and cross-agency working
·Excellent communication and leadership skills, with experience influencing stakeholders at all levels
·Experience managing or coordinating teams and/or delivering service improvements
·A flexible, collaborative, and customer-focused approach
