Job description
CAD Technician
We are seeking a talented and motivated CAD Technician to join a leading transport planning consultancy in London. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a wide range of projects that support sustainable development, movement strategies, and traffic and transport assessments.
The ideal candidate will bring a proactive attitude and a strong foundation in AutoCAD, with experience producing plans and drawings to support transport planning, traffic engineering, and development-led projects.
Key Responsibilities:
·Prepare accurate and high-quality technical drawings using AutoCAD for transport planning submissions, including access arrangements, swept path analysis layouts, and junction designs.
·Support consultants and engineers by creating visually clear plans for Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, and planning applications.
·Work collaboratively across the team to support project delivery and ensure drawings meet internal and client standards.
·Assist with the preparation of design outputs for planning and technical documents, including site layouts, visibility splays, vehicle tracking, and access strategies.
·Manage and organise drawing files, ensuring version control and consistent presentation across all projects.
Requirements:
·Proficient in AutoCAD with a portfolio demonstrating relevant experience.
·Understanding of the UK planning and transport development process.
·Ideally, experience in a transport planning or traffic engineering consultancy environment.
·Good communication skills and the ability to interpret technical guidance and client briefs.
·Ability to manage time effectively and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
·Relevant qualification in CAD, civil engineering, or a related field (HNC/HND or equivalent).
Desirable:
·Experience with software such as AutoTURN, TRICS, or GIS-based tools.
·Familiarity with design guidance such as Manual for Streets, DMRB, or local authority transport policy.
·An understanding of vehicle tracking and geometric design principles.
