Senior Engineer - Highways Earthworks
 
Location: Sheffield, UK
Salary: £55,000 per annum + 10% Bonus + £8,800 Car Allowance
Is an experienced Earthworks Engineer looking for a new challenge in a dynamic environment? Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Engineer to join their growing team in Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity to lead significant highways earthworks projects, utilising cutting-edge technology and contributing to critical infrastructure development.
About the Role
As a Senior Engineer, the successful candidate will be responsible for the technical delivery of earthworks design, modelling, and supervision for a range of highways projects. They will play a key role in ensuring the successful and safe execution of projects from inception to completion, working closely with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
·Lead the design and modelling of complex earthworks schemes for highways projects.
·Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and reports.
·Undertake volumetric calculations and material management.
·Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers and project teams.
·Oversee site activities, ensuring adherence to design, quality, and safety standards.
·Utilise and optimise the use of Leica survey equipment and software for data collection and analysis.
·Proficiently use N4ce software for terrain modelling, earthworks design, and calculations.
·Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
·Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with earthworks operations.
·Contribute to bid preparation and project planning.
About the Candidate
·A minimum of 5 years' post-graduate experience specifically in highways earthworks projects.
·Demonstrable expertise in the use of Leica survey equipment and associated software (e.g., Leica Infinity, Leica Geo Office).
·Proven proficiency in N4ce software for earthworks design and modelling is essential.
·Strong understanding of earthworks principles, geotechnics, and relevant design standards (e.g., DMRB).
·Experience in supervising earthworks operations on site.
·Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
·Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.1
·A relevant degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
·Full UK driving licence.
