Location: Wokingham
Salary: Up to £40,000 p/a depending on experience + company car or car allowance

Are you an Ecologist experienced in responding to environmental incidents and delivering protected species/habitat surveys?
 
My client is looking for a Senior Ecologist to join their leading Water & Ecology team. The ideal candidate will be based within 3 hours of Wokingham as their projects are based across the Midlands and the South of England.
 
Weekly contractual hours are 35 per week, with daily hours being 9am - 5pm, 5 days per week, with a 1 hour paid lunch break each day.
 
 
Your role will involve:
·Delivering protected species surveys, habitat surveys and preliminary ecological appraisals (PEAs) with associated reports, including mapping;
·Co-ordinating and undertaking ecological clerk of works (ECoW);
·Responding to environmental incidents and completing the fieldwork necessary to enable a professional ecological impact assessment to be completed;
·Providing advice to the wider Group and clients on potential ecological impacts on emergency/planned works;
·Inputting to the delivery of Water & Ecology reports;
·Assisting business development, marketing, quotations and tender writing;
·Helping maintain and develop client relationships through effective project management and provision of excellent customer service;
 
Skills:
·Experience in ecological consultancy, ideally with a particular emphasis on the protected species and the terrestrial environment;
·A thorough understanding and experience of the industry standard survey techniques (including protected species and Phase 1 habitat);
·Hold at least one protected species licence;
·Membership of an environmental professional body;
·Qualified to degree level in an environmental subject and have substantive experience in an ecology role;
·Higher degree in ecology or related discipline would be an advantage;
·Previous commercial and/or regulatory experience would be desirable;
·Comfortable with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and GIS, and wider experience of scheduling/programming using specialist computer programs where appropriate would be an advantage;
·A full UK Driver's License is required.
