As a Senior Developments Manager, you will take a leadership role in shaping safe, adoptable and future-ready highway infrastructure. You will influence major development schemes, lead talented engineers, and work closely with developers, stakeholders and the Highway Authority to ensure new and altered highways meet the highest standards.

What you will be doing in this Senior Developments Manager role
As Senior Developments Manager, you will lead a team of engineers responsible for ensuring highways offered for adoption meet all required standards. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
·Leading the technical evaluation and authorisation of externally designed highway schemes to ensure compliance with regional and national design and safety standards
·Overseeing inspections and approvals to confirm schemes are constructed to adoptable Highway Authority standards
·Managing and controlling budgets across multiple projects, including design fees, works costs and wider programme expenditure
·Line managing, coaching and developing a team of technical professionals to help them reach their full potential
·Ensuring statutory duties, policies and procedures are consistently met, maintaining a high-quality and reliable service
·Acting as Principal Designer under CDM Regulations, embedding health and safety best practice across all projects
·Leading communication with developers, internal teams, elected members and the public, representing the organisation professionally
·Collaborating across the wider business to support service delivery as workloads fluctuate

What you will need to succeed
To thrive as a Senior Developments Manager, you will bring:
·A degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline) with relevant post-qualification experience, or equivalent practical experience
·Strong knowledge of highway and civil engineering design standards, contracts and approval processes
·Proven experience in project management, programme control and quality systems
·A solid understanding of health & safety legislation, traffic management and highway construction best practice
·Experience using specialist software such as CAD, drainage design and/or safety barrier design tools, alongside MS Office
·A track record of managing and monitoring project finances across multiple schemes
·Confidence in decision-making, problem-solving and prioritising in a busy design environment
·A leadership style that demonstrates professionalism, accountability and excellent customer care
·A full UK driving licence
