Senior Conservation Officer

£35,372 - £39,224 per annum
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our dynamic team as a Senior Conservation Officer within our local planning authority. As a Senior Conservation Officer, your key responsibilities will include:
Heritage Preservation: Overseeing and coordinating conservation projects to ensure the protection and enhancement of historical and cultural assets within the local area.
Planning Applications: Assessing planning applications with respect to conservation and heritage considerations, providing expert advice to colleagues, applicants, and stakeholders.
Policy Development: Contributing to the development and implementation of conservation policies and strategies, ensuring alignment with national and local guidelines.
Site Visits: Conducting regular site visits to assess the impact of proposed developments on heritage assets, providing detailed reports and recommendations.
Collaboration: Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including architects, developers, and community groups, to promote best practices in conservation.
Training and Mentorship: Providing guidance and support to junior staff members and assisting in their professional development.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
·A degree in a relevant field such as Conservation, Heritage Management, or a related discipline.
·Proven experience in a conservation role, preferably within a local planning authority.
·Strong knowledge of UK planning policies and legislation related to conservation.
·Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders.
·A valid UK driving licence and access to your own car, as the role involves regular travel for site visits.
