Job description
Senior Civil Engineer
Hours: 37.5 a week - Core hours 9:30am - 4pm
Rate: £42-52 p/h
Role type: Remote
If you're a Senior Civil Engineer who enjoys owning your projects, leading from the front and delivering drainage design properly, this will suit you.
You'll be confident taking technical responsibility for Drainage & Water packages and comfortable acting as Design Lead under the Design Team Leader. That means making clear decisions, keeping programmes on track, managing risk before it becomes a problem and ensuring budgets are understood and respected.
Your focus will be RIBA stage delivery of surface water and foul drainage for schools, residential and commercial developments, including planning. You'll need to be technically strong, detail-focused and comfortable reviewing and signing off designs, knowing they meet standards, regulations and best practice.
You'll be trusted to manage your workload, communicate clearly with multi-disciplinary teams and build strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
You'll also play a key part in developing others. If you enjoy mentoring graduates, sharing knowledge and helping raise the overall technical standard of a team, you'll thrive here. You'll line manage up to two graduates or apprentices and contribute to improving how we deliver projects as a whole.
Essential / Mandatory
- Strong experience delivering Drainage & Water design packages with a high degree of technical autonomy across one or more sectors (e.g. Building & Development, Transportation, Water Utilities, Flood & Water Management).
- Proven ability to manage technical delivery of work packages, with solid awareness of programme, cost and risk.
- Experience working within multi-disciplinary teams and communicating effectively with a range of stakeholders.
- Track record of producing and reviewing high-quality, compliant engineering outputs in line with relevant standards and regulations.
- Experience mentoring or line managing graduates or apprentices.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required.
Desirable / Recommended
- Professionally accredited or working towards CEng / IEng.
- Experience across more than one Drainage & Water discipline or sector.
- Interest or involvement in improving processes, innovation or developing best practice.
If you're looking for a role where you'll be trusted, challenged and able to genuinely influence both projects and people, we'd encourage you to apply.
