Job description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Freelance Section Engineer to join a team and play a key role in the successful implementation of our National Highways dualling scheme in Somerset. The Section Engineer will be responsible for overseeing specific sections of the project, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, quality standards, and health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
·Take ownership of assigned sections of the project, including planning, coordination, and execution of construction activities.
·Conduct site inspections and surveys to assess project progress, identify potential risks, and ensure compliance with design specifications and regulatory requirements.
·Supervise and coordinate the work of subcontractors, engineers, and laborers to ensure efficient and timely completion of tasks.
·Monitor and manage project resources, including materials, equipment, and manpower, to optimize productivity and minimize wastage.
·Implement quality control measures and conduct regular inspections to ensure that workmanship meets established standards and specifications.
·Collaborate with project managers, designers, and other stakeholders to address technical issues, resolve conflicts, and achieve project objectives.
Qualifications:
·Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field; relevant professional certifications or qualifications are advantageous.
·Proven experience as a Section Engineer or similar role in civil engineering or construction projects, preferably within the transportation or infrastructure sector.
·Sound knowledge of construction methods, materials, and techniques, with a focus on highways or road projects.
·Familiarity with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations, including health and safety guidelines.
·Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
