Job description

We're recruiting a compassionate and resilient Rough Sleeper Support Officer to play a key role in tackling homelessness and ending rough sleeping. This role is all about supporting vulnerable individuals with complex needs, helping them to access safe accommodation, engage with vital services, and move towards long-term independence.
You'll be working directly with people who have experienced rough sleeping, often with challenges such as mental health issues, substance use, criminal justice histories, or long-term unemployment.

This is an opportunity to make a real difference in people's lives, supporting some of the most vulnerable members of the community to take positive steps forward.

The Role
·Provide tailored support to clients in temporary accommodation, helping them sustain their tenancies and build independent living skills.
·Carry out outreach work to identify and verify rough sleepers, and support them into safe housing solutions.
·Develop and review individual support plans with achievable outcomes, working closely with clients, council officers, and partner agencies.
·Keep accurate and timely case notes, records, and reports to support service delivery and performance monitoring.
·Help residents manage personal and housing-related finances, including benefit claims and applications.
·Coordinate referrals to internal and external support agencies and encourage engagement with those services.
·Build trust and rapport with clients, promoting positive behaviours and long-term engagement.

Key Requirements
·Experience of working with rough sleepers or vulnerable individuals with complex needs.
·Strong understanding of the causes and challenges linked to rough sleeping.
·Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage and build rapport quickly.
·Resilience, empathy, and determination to work with a challenging client group.
·Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, managing caseloads and deadlines effectively.
·Confidence in working collaboratively with colleagues, agencies, and external partners.
·A full UK driving licence is essential.
