Rail Project Director needed for a temp to perm position in Milton Keynes
 
Working for a leading rail consortium who are delivering a £600mill rail project on the East West Rail link.
 
Rate: £700 - £960 per day (inside IR35) - this role is likely to go permanent later and will offer a salary of roughly £120,000-£130,000 per annum
 
The role will consist of working in a client organisation - managing Network Rail and the Construction Alliance. Making sure that value is added on behalf of the Department For Transport in managing Network rails efforts to deliver this section of work.
Unique opportunity to support the development of a nationally significant infrastructure project currently in its initial stages through overseeing and assuring the work delivered by Network Rail to time, cost and quality requirements. The role also represents an opportunity to contribute to the end state operations and maintenance strategy for EWR.
The project is just currently procuring design and environmental support so my client is open to people with either rail consultancy or rail construction director experience as long as it has been on £100mill+ schemes.
You will be working through preliminary design and then through to statutory planning permission, so excellent pre-construction experience is a must.
My client is looking for a chartered engineer due to the heavy emphasis this project has on engineering elements.

Your team will include people across the areas of:

·Commercial and Cost Management (for the Alliance)
·Construction - Quality and Delivery Risk
·Given the early stage of the project, it is likely that the nature of the role may evolve as the project progresses. It is also possible that other ad-hoc activities and duties may be required.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
As Western Section Delivery Director for the East West Rail scheme you will have at significant experience in programme management including as a programme director, ideally within the UK rail industry.
Your skills and experience will include:
·The ability to effectively organise and staff a team, and complete work in a matrix organisation
·Strong business and commercial awareness including: Cash flow management, general business planning and budget management
·Experience in the management of, multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects through design, construction, and handover into operation. Including adequate consideration of the end-user / customer throughout.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
·Bachelor degree or equivalent (various engineering/project management preferable)
·Chartered or Incorporated engineer or equivalent (preferable)
