Job description
Project Manager - Bus Infrastructure
We are recruiting on behalf of the Isle of Wight Council for a Transport Strategy Project Manager to support the Transport Strategy Manager in delivering a programme of local bus infrastructure schemes. These schemes are part of the Department for Transport's Bus Settlement Fund for 2025/26 onwards, with a value of circa £1.3m per annum, aligned with the Isle of Wight Bus Service Improvement and Delivery Plans.
This role will involve delivering and managing a portfolio of work packages using robust project management approaches, engaging with multiple stakeholders including internal teams, external partners, and the local community, and maintaining effective communication channels to support project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
·Assist in planning, developing, and delivering bus infrastructure projects in line with strategic objectives.
·Manage a portfolio of work packages, applying robust project management principles.
·Develop and maintain communication channels for internal and external stakeholders.
·Engage with and manage relationships with multiple stakeholders, balancing competing priorities.
·Monitor project progress, prepare reports, and highlight risks or issues to the Transport Strategy Manager.
·Ensure compliance with council policies, legislation, and Department for Transport requirements.
·Support evaluation of project outcomes and contribute to continuous improvement.
About You - Essential Requirements
·Experience in project management, ideally in transport, infrastructure, or public sector programmes.
·Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
·Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
·Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners.
·Knowledge of local transport planning, bus services, or public transport policy desirable.
·Proficient in project management tools and reporting processes.
Desirable:
·Formal project management qualification (PRINCE2, APM, or equivalent).
·Experience in community engagement or public consultation processes.
·Understanding of government transport funding mechanisms, including the Bus Settlement Fund.
