Role: Process Optimisation Manager
Location: Falkirk - Site based ideally 5 days per week.
Duration: 18-24 Months
Rate: £450-£550 per day Limited company outside IR35
Reporting to: Operations Director

Process Optimisation Manager
 
Job Purpose
To take the new plant through all the operational stages of commissioning and optimisation before handing it over to the Site Manager. To ensure that the plant is operated safely and compliantly during the commissioning and optimisation period.  To ensure all commissioning documentation, including Risk Assessments and Procedures are in place prior to commissioning activities commencing.  To actively work with the Plant Provider to ensure that the plant operates in line or exceeds expectations.   To oversee the optimisation of the plant after commissioning activities have concluded.  To mentor and train the new Site Manager and wider team.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
 
Leadership
·Develop a commissioning and optimisation plan to ensure that the facility is working at its optimum level when handed over to Operations.
·Lead team interactions around Health and Safety and Compliance matters.
·Manage, coach and develop the Operational Management team through the commissioning and optimisation processes of the new facility.  
·Feedback to the Board on the performance and development of the facility.
·Lead on all Safety and Compliance matters.
 
Operational Management
·Install a production mentality within the operations team through the implementation of structure, data analysis and continual improvement.
·Develop and lead Site Manager and Supervisors through active coaching.
·Develop training programs for cross-training of manufacturing personnel and leadership.
·Actively engages with employees on the production floor on a regular basis.
·Facilitate communication and develop a shared vision within the team.
·Proposes and assists in capacity planning, hiring, and training methods for production staff.
·Use data and root cause analysis to improve quality.
·Establish production targets and metrics.
·Develop tools, processes, and communication channels to ensure on time deliver.
·Develop and ensure production follows appropriate workflow and methods.
·Establish and implement lean manufacturing initiatives that achieve improved business results.
·Take a process view towards problem solving and improvements.
·Effectively manage costs and identify opportunities for increased efficiencies.
 
Resource Management
·Create and manage a resource plan to reflect the operational requirements and adjust to reflect seasonal changes in composition or volume.
·Ensure all the Company HR processes and procedures are adhered to including disciplinary, grievances, performance and absence management.
·Identify training requirements for staff and opportunities for development within the team.
 
Finance
·Advise on budgets and CAPEX and OPEX expenditure to create a accurate operational model  
Improvement
·Liaise with external companies on ways to improve or upgrade our process or equipment
·Carry out reviews on processes and determine any internal process improvements.
·Identify new business opportunities.
·Designing, leading, and delivering technical development for process improvement.
·Analyse and present data to find cost-efficient solutions
 
Compliance
·Ensure compliance with all company work practices
·Undertake quality control inspection of incoming/outgoing materials
·Ensure that Material trials are carried out and collate all data on a weekly basis. Calculate the material split and the process time to identify possible improvements or add a new material that could be recovered.
 
 
Health and Safety
·Develop and lead a culture of safety and challenging of unsafe acts.
·Oversee Safety Briefs and site safety meetings.
·In conjunction with the wider business develop and conduct health and safety toolbox talks.
·Oversee the creation H&S documentation, Risk assessments, Sop's, procedures by the Operations Team.
·Ensure that all aspects of health and safety are adhered to
·Lead Site Safety inspections.
·Report and investigate all incidents.
·Identify any H&S improvements are required within the area.
·Form part of the Health Safety Working Group.
·Issue permits to work, WAH, hot work etc to ensure compliance with company procedures
·Ensure Contractors comply with the  Safety requirements
 
Experience and Qualifications
 
Essential
·IOSH Managing Safely
·Experience of commissioning production plants within the waste or manufacturing sector.
·Leading and developing multi-shift teams over a 24hrs basis.
·Driving Licence
·Strong ability to verbal and written communication
·Strong analytical and problem-solving ability Proven ability to motivate teams and manage conflict
·Strong computer skills (business system, email, spreadsheet and word processing)
·Experience with CMMS systems and product flow Ability to read and interpret prints, drawings, and layout
Desirable
·NEBOSH Certificate
·HNC or equivalent in a process of engineering field.
·Certificate of Technical Competence Level 4
