The Rail Engineering Projects Testing and Commissioning Team is an exciting and growing team, eager to grasp modern systems, processes and concepts, within the regulatory framework that we are required to work.
 
We are seeking a motivated and organised individual to join us and lead the testing management of major and complex projects.
 
You will need to be able to demonstrate an ability to work under pressure and to use initiative whilst working within a highly regulated environment.
 
Do you have good organisation skills and the ability to communicate with staff at all levels?
 
Reporting to the Southern Testing and Commissioning Engineer, the work is mainly site based on projects and as such there may be a requirement to lodge away for extended periods of time and to work unsocial hours. You must hold a full UK driving Licence.
 
Requirement
 
Experience in Railway Signalling Testing/Commissioning of any size of Projects
Principles and Functional Tester IRSE Licence
Thorough and detailed knowledge of Network Rail Signal Works Testing Handbook
Thorough and detailed knowledge of principles testing requirements
A1 IRSE assessor for Principles Testing (desirable)
Substantial Railway Signalling experience especially in Principles of signalling testing of Computer Based Interlocking schemes.
Conventional free-wired and/or geographical systems knowledge (desirable)
Good knowledge of Railway Group NWR company standards requirements
Good personnel management and communication skills
Able to work under pressure during intense periods of commissioning etc
Current Driving Licence
Able to deputise for the Testing & Commissioning Engineer (Principles)
Willing to work flexibly and efficiently in support of the project.
Able to contribute to the management team to provide the development and future direction for the testing group.
Responsibilities
 
Take overall responsibility for the Principles testing and commissioning of new and altered signalling systems for Major Works Testing of substantial Signalling projects.
Undertake testing duties within the scope of Certificate of Competency held.
Identify resource requirements for your projects and competent staff are utilised, ensuring they are briefed regarding their work and responsibilities and that any necessary documentation is completed.
Encourage and promote the advancement of staff as a route to self development.
Deputise for the Testing & Commissioning Engineer (Principles)
Upward briefing of project principles testing status to T&CE and Project team as required.
Manage Principles testing activities as part of a commissioning of signalling equipment to meet contract specifications, performance and safety parameters.
Prepare and check bids for accuracy and price for the Principles testing portion of signalling projects.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and procedures, and innovations and initiatives.
