Job description

My Client are a leading, international premier infrastructure firm, delivering professional services. The projects vary from transportation, buildings, water, governments, energy and the environment.
The team in Croydon are currently looking to expand their Traffic Team and looking specifically for a Principal Engineer on permanent basis. The company offer a fantastic flexible working policy and will accommodate flexible and remote working. Reporting to the Associate Director, this person will lead on  Traffic related projects and manage a team of approximately 4 or 5 members of staff. The team have some interesting projects in the pipeline, including Thames tunnel and temporary traffic management, as well as various projects in Kent and The Midlands.

You will:
·Lead on detailed design projects, taking overall responsibility for delivery.
·Line manage, mentor and supervise staff in the performance of their duties.
·Act as a Technical Lead or Project Manager, including monitoring of financial and team performance.
·Liaise and work with contractors and carry out site supervision.
·Undertake Health & Safety duties including ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for the project team members and fulfilling Safety-in-Design requirements.
·Act as a Principal Designer under CDM 2015 and be responsible for HSE notifications, preparation and review of PCI's, CPP's and Health and Safety Files where applicable
·Prepare fee proposals and major bids.
 
Requirements
·Demonstrate knowledge and experience of undertaking detailed design schemes
·Pavement & Drainage Design experience
·Knowledge or awareness of several of the following; cycling design, traffic calming, Healthy Streets, junction design, and footway and carriageway renewal design
·Knowledge or awareness of local and national design standards including, but not limited to; TSRGD, Manual for Streets, DMRB and Traffic Signs Manual
·Demonstrate understanding of Health and Safety including CDM responsibilities
·Buildability awareness
·Road Safety knowledge
·Experience of AutoCAD Civil 3D & Microstation
·Keen to progress Chartership with a related institution such as ICE or CIH
Preferred Qualifications
·B.Sc., BEng or MEng degree in Civil Engineering, or relevant Engineering discipline.
