Job description

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Principal Drainage Engineer to join a multinational engineering company working on major National Highways projects. You will be responsible for managing the drainage design of these schemes to DMRB standards and overseeing the design of more junior staff. Major highways drainage design experience is essential.
 
This is a full time contract role which offers flexible working. Our client is considering people local to Birmingham, London, Manchester, Bristol and Leeds. This position falls outside IR35.
 
The role
 
·Design and deliver coordinated drainage design solutions for major highway projects in the UK (National Highways)
·MicroDrainage modelling of highway drainage networks including analysis of surcharging, flood flow analysis, flow control and attenuation systems 
·Highway drainage design to DMRB standards, including edge collection systems such as gullies and channels.
·Hydraulic design of pre-earthworks and natural catchments adjacent to the highway with ditches and culverts to DMRB standards.
·Earthworks design of drainage features such as ponds and ditches in Civil3D.
·Creation of 3D drainage models in Civil3D for co-ordination and clash detection.
·Working knowledge of drawing production with AutoCAD.
 
Key experience required
 
·Excellent drainage design capabilities on major highways projects
·BEng/MEng (Hons) Degree in Civil Engineering
·Minimum 5 years post qualifying experience
·AutoCAD proficient and expertise in MicroDrainage modelling system or equivalent hydraulic design tools
·Proven experience in the UK or internationally at renowned practices
·Demonstrate experience in leading strategic and detailed design, and delivering drainage designs across the UK
·Self-motivated and thrives working in multidisciplinary environments
