Bristol
£500 per day (Umbrella)
3 month rolling contract
 
South West based Council, a key player in climate action, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the innovative "Mission Net Zero" project. This initiative, supported by £5 million in funding from Innovate UK, is a vital component of the council's commitment to achieving net-zero emissions and forms part of the council's ambitious Net Zero Programme.
Role Overview: As the Senior Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating a consortium of local partners, overseeing three community-focused workstreams, collaborating with regional partners, engaging local SMEs in the supply chain, and working closely with financial institutions. This project aims to showcase an innovative approach to decarbonsing cities and requires strategic thinking, effective collaboration, and meticulous project management.
 
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for:
·Understanding and synthesizing ongoing and planned project activities.
·Developing a cohesive and coordinated view of all planned and ongoing work to facilitate team understanding of ownership, inter-dependencies, and timelines.
·Creating and maintaining key project controls, including project plans, RAID logs, and budget management, utilizing project management software.
·Establishing and maintaining effective governance for the project, ensuring progress reporting to the appropriate board.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: In addition to the general requirements outlined in the Person Specification, the ideal candidate will:
·Demonstrate enthusiasm for contributing to the mission to achieve net zero.
·Showcase prior experience in organizing multiple workstreams into a unified, well-managed project, allocating appropriate resources, implementing governance structures, and ensuring effective reporting.
·Possess a deep understanding of project management methodologies and tools.
