East Midlands

My client in the East Midlands is seeking an experienced planning officer to join their small team to control mineral extraction and waste management developments through forward planning, determining planning applications, monitoring and enforcement.
 
The Minerals and Waste team are responsible for the delivery of all aspects of the Minerals and
Waste Planning Service, including:
·Taking responsibility for planning projects from conception to conclusion.
·Preparing evidence for the Council for planning appeals and court hearings.
·Acting for the Council as an expert planning witness in planning appeals and court hearings.
·Supporting and offering guidance to less senior officers and support officers on development projects
 
The post holder must have a Degree or postgraduate diploma in town and country planning or relevant subject such as geography, environmental science, sustainability or geology; and have an in depth knowledge of the planning system in the UK including minerals & waste.
 
The council are looking for candidates who will be able to hit the ground running and must have at least 3 years planning experience.
 
Site visits will be required so full driving licence and your own vehicle with business car insurance is desirable. This contract can be worked on a hybrid basis with some office work needed along with the site visits being completed, but this can be discussed on an individual basis.
