Position: MEICA Estimator - Water Sector
Location: St Albans
Salary: Up to £75,000 per annum + package
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced MEICA Estimator to join a leading Tier 1 contractor working across key water sector projects. This role focuses on supporting the successful delivery of tenders and estimates for mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation (MEICA) works across water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
You'll play a key part in preparing cost estimates, supporting project methodologies, and advising during the enabling phases of projects. This is a crucial role in ensuring projects are accurately priced, competitively tendered, and set up for successful delivery.
Role Responsibilities:
·Prepare and develop MEICA estimates and tenders for water-related projects.
·Work with engineering and commercial teams to ensure tenders meet technical, commercial, and safety standards.
·Support the project team during the enabling and pre-construction phases.
·Prepare cost estimates based on client scopes and technical information.
·Collaborate with supply chain partners to obtain competitive quotations and technical submissions.
·Ensure governance, compliance, and internal approval procedures are followed throughout the tendering process.
·Provide feedback from completed projects to help improve future estimating accuracy.
·Assist with producing method statements, programmes, and cost plans for tender submissions.
What We're Looking For:
·Strong background in MEICA estimating, ideally within the water or utilities sector.
·Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes.
·Strong understanding of MEICA equipment, materials, and supply chain.
·Ability to interpret technical drawings and prepare detailed cost breakdowns.
·Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
·Organised, methodical, and commercially aware.
Desirable:
·Previous experience with estimating software (e.g., Candy).
·Familiarity with NEC contracts.
·Relevant HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering.
·CSCS / SMSTS / First Aid (desirable).
·Water Hygiene, Thames Water Passport (advantageous but not essential).
