Are you a skilled Project Manager with a passion for sustainability, and a background in the energy sector? We're looking for a dynamic individual to lead the delivery of a Local Area Energy Plan (LAEP) - a strategic initiative designed to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon, resilient future.
In this high-impact role, you'll be working at the intersection of energy systems, community engagement, and long-term climate strategy. You'll be responsible for shaping and delivering a roadmap that transforms how the local area produces, uses, and conserves energy.
What will you do?
·Lead the end-to-end delivery of a Local Area Energy Plan, keeping it on time, within scope, and on budget.
·Coordinate input from technical consultants, energy modellers, and local authority teams.
·Engage a wide range of stakeholders including local authorities, communities, energy companies, and industry partners.
·Align the plan with local and national energy policies, regulatory frameworks, and sustainability goals.
·Oversee the analysis of energy data, decarbonisation opportunities, and infrastructure requirements.
·Secure funding and evaluate the cost-effectiveness of proposed solutions.
·Clearly communicate project progress, impact, and long-term benefits to diverse audiences.
·Lead with confidence and motivate a multidisciplinary team to deliver a shared vision.
What do you need?
To be successful in your application for this role you will need to demonstrate ALL the following on application and through the interview process:
·UK Resident
·MUST have minimum 3 years' experience of working in a local authority within the energy, sustainability, or infrastructure project management sector
·Strong knowledge of energy systems, renewable technologies, and decarbonisation strategies
·Understanding of UK energy policies, net zero commitments, and regulatory frameworks
·Data-driven with experience in energy modelling or scenario analysis
·Confident communicator - both written and verbal - able to simplify complex concepts
·Financially literate, with an ability to assess funding mechanisms and economic viability
