To support the successful delivery of the IDNO implementation project for UKPN Services
 
Nature and Scope:
 
The role is a secondment to support the creation of our clients Independent Distribution Network Operator (IDNO) by October 2023. This includes setting up the company, building a pipeline of projects, establishing the key systems, capabilities and processes and successfully receiving a licence from Ofgem.
 
 
Key Competencies:
 
Principal Accountabilities:
 
·To efficiently support project management requirements through the full life cycle of the project from initial requirements gathering through to post project review, ensuring the clients Services governance and control processes are continually met.
·Manage the delivery of project activities while ensuring project milestones are met on time and to a high standard. Activities include establishing the delivery capability, developing marketing material and brand, developing a sales pipeline and other essential activities as directed.
·Supporting the delivery of project activities including market entry with central bodies, developing a charging methodology, updating the business model and all other activities required to set up the IDNO.
·Drawing upon experience of managing projects varying in type, size and complexity to ensure the project is delivered within agreed timescales, budgets and quality.
·Establish and manage a Project Board to provide status updates, highlight issues and obtain decisions and direction. This will include production of weekly/monthly reports, as required. Maintain and communicate project timetables, project plans and risk and issue logs to project sponsors and key stakeholders.
·Collaborate, support and lead the project, project team and engage with key stakeholders across the business and externally, as necessary. Effectively manage the workload, taking full responsibility and ownership of the success and quality of the project while providing support to less senior project managers and support staff as required.
 
 
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
 
Essential 
·Strong programme and project management capability and a good understanding of different project management approaches
·Extensive commercial skills with an understanding of potential commercial risks that may arise during a project
·Qualifications or relevant experience in project or programme management
 
Desirable
·Experience in the utility sector with a regulated DNO/IDNO
·Experience in business development and commercial management and/or operations
·Experience in establishing a team and delivery capability
·Experience in developing a sales pipeline
·Understanding of regulations and compliance requirements for IDNOs.
·Knowledge of how the different components of the UK energy sector work, including generation, transmission, distribution, retail and associated regulation with specific commercial experience in the unregulated distribution space.
·Strong leadership skills and experience in change management
·Clear and competent communication and presentation skills
·Understanding of the commercial drivers for an IDNO
·Able to solve problems that may arise throughout a project
·Ability to manage the financial control of projects, ensuring timely delivery
·Professional reporting and presentation to our clients senior and executive management
·Stakeholder focused - ability to manage of key stakeholders and to work as part of a wider team through collaboration to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
