Carrington West require a Section Engineer to work on a large road improvement scheme based in Birmingham.
 
As Section Engineer you will focus on the Structures elements of this project - This will involve activities such as establishing the working area and compound, managing the excavation, installation of retaining wall solutions such as sheet pilling, substructure construction which will be either reinforced soil foundations or piling, reinforced concrete works, lifting operations for structural steelwork installation and finishing works.
 
You will forecast the Section of works on site, manage any clashes with other works on site, ensure your team keeps an accurate and detailed record for all works, generate risk assessments and method statements for your works.
 
As Section Engineer you will be supported by a Site Structures Agent and you will be expected to take ownership of detailed planning, delivery and handover of your section.
 
Required Qualifications & Skills
 
·Degree level qualification in a Civil Engineering allied subject or HND in Civil Engineering and vocational training in Engineering
·Effective written and verbal communication skills to diverse audiences.
·Knowledge and understanding of engineering principles and common construction methodologies.
·Knowledge and understanding of construction contracts (through experience and formal training).
·Working towards or in possession of Professional Industry Qualification (IEng, CEng etc.)
·Digital competence (MS Office, document control systems, site digital tools).
·Formal training in Health & Safety and Environmental management (SMSTS)
·Relevant CSCS Card
 
Preferred experience
 
·Excavation works (HSG47, managing permits to dig)
·Lifting Operations (CPCS A61 Lifting Appointed Person)
·Temporary Works (Supervisor, designer, or coordinator. Formal training).
·Concrete works (prior experience as a site-based engineer).
·Structural steelwork (prior experience as a site-based engineer).
