Job description

I am currently looking for a Highway Development Control Engineer to join a fast growing private sector consultancy based in London office.
 
You will be responsible for providing specialist engineering assessment and advice for the design and the delivery of highway development and sections 278/38 works. You will assist the Senior Highway Development Control Engineer with receiving, assessing, and responding to 'minor' and 'major' applications and responding fully according to the client's HDC policies and on time according to set time parameters. You will also liaise with developers and monitor works on site.
 
Transport Planners with Development Control experience will also be considered.
 
The role
·Technical vetting and the delivery of development related works on the public highway:
·Assessing planning applications with regards to impacts on the public highway, liaising with and formally responding to developer's application on behalf of the Planning Department
·Overseeing and approval of highway development works on site
·Negotiating/providing responses to developers to secure financial contributions via s278 and s38 agreements
·Supporting the Senior Development Control Engineer with applications and site monitoring.
·Develop and maintain a good understanding of national, regional, and local policy relating to transport and development, and the transport aspects of proposals within the Borough's Local Plan.
·Working together with colleagues, help to evaluate development proposals, providing responses on behalf of the Highway Authority identifying transport requirements and mitigation measures.
·Communicate effectively with colleagues, predominantly in Highways & Transport and Planning, including through reports and mark-ups of technical drawings.
·Supporting the technical evaluation and processes associated with Section 38 and Section 278 Highways Agreements.
 
The ideal candidate
·Ideally 2-3 years' experience in Highways Development Control
·Technical qualification / Degree in Engineering or Planning discipline
·Knowledge of planning, development, transport and relevant legislation
·Strong IT skills
