Highway Maintenance Engineer
 
My client in Bristol is recruiting for a highway maintenance engineer to join the highway maintenance team undertaking design of major highway maintenance, monitoring implementation, with general liaison with contractors and the in-house delivery team. To make assessments on a wide range of highway maintenance related enquiries reporting and responding as appropriate. Mostly carriageway and footway schemes involving replacement of surfacing and some specialist surfacing treatments. Some drainage knowledge would be useful
 
Main Duties of highway maintenance engineer
 
-To undertake site assessments and develop solutions that meets the criteria of various policies and strategies.
-To assist or undertake the design, consultation, and implementation of schemes, for improvement, operation or maintenance of the public highway and related assets
-To monitor the implementation of maintenance schemes, including liaison with contractors and consultants, site supervisors, checking of surveys and setting out work.
-To assist in preparing reports and responding to enquiries and correspondence from MPs, Council Members, Parish Councils, other organisations, and the public.
-To always promote safe working practices and to assist in complying with the Authority's policies and procedures for Health and Safety matters, including CDM Regulations.
-Making site visits, construction sites and other locations as appropriate.  On occasions may be required to be full time site based with weekend and overnight working and so should expect to be outdoors in all weathers and access areas with poor working surfaces.
 
This position for Highway maintenance engineer will be issued on an initial 3-month contract.
