Job description
Highway Engineer
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Highways Engineer to join a Council in Hampshire, delivering high-quality highway and transport infrastructure projects. This role is paying £45ph outside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
·Propose solutions, agree modifications, and prepare designs for highway schemes from inception through to detailed design, ready for implementation.
·Prepare contract documents and provide technical support throughout the construction period, ensuring works are completed on programme and within budget.
·Plan and programme activities and resources for small or non-complex schemes, implementing, monitoring, and controlling progress to achieve timely completion.
·Prepare estimates and monitor project costs, including works and fees for internal and external consultants, ensuring projects remain within agreed budgets.
·Apply Health and Safety and sustainability considerations when identifying design solutions.
·Liaise and negotiate with a wide range of professionals, including developers, consultants, planners, and solicitors, during the assessment of Section 38 and Section 278 agreement submissions.
·Check and assess detailed Section 38 and Section 278 submissions from developers and their consultants for compliance with policies, standards, and specifications, ensuring suitability for adoption as publicly maintainable highways.
Requirements:
·RQF Level 4-6 in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
·Proven experience in the design and construction of highways, infrastructure, and civil engineering projects.
·Knowledge of relevant specifications, policies, and procedures for highway design and construction.
·Competent user of CAD software, such as Civil 3D, MX, AutoCAD, or equivalent.
