Job description

Carrington West's an exciting Head of Planning position available in the Greater Manchester area on an initial 6-month temporary contract. Hybrid working is available.
 
What is the role?
We are looking to appoint a Head of Planning to lead the planning service and support with significant regeneration programmes, whilst ensuring the delivery of first-class services to developers, applicants, and residents.
 
How can you help?
·Ensure the service supports the delivery of the Council's Corporate Plan, Inclusive Growth Strategy, Housing Strategy, and GM Environment Plan.
·Lead on services transformation projects to reduce service demands and align with Government Planning reforms.
·Champion high quality design and sustainable development, supporting delivery of the GM Places for People Plan and council Local Plan.
·Provide leadership and day-to-day management for teams involved in Planning Development Management, Planning Policy, Enforcement, Building Control, and GM Ecology services.
 
What background do you need?
·Chartered Town Planner (MRTPI), or equivalent experience, and a strong public sector background in Planning services.
·Ability, and demonstrable experience, in leading a Local Plan process through to adoption, including significant experience of planning applications for major developments.
·Experience working with subregional partners and neighbouring authorities and ability to broker effective collaboration.
 

Carrington West Pay Rate - £600 to £700per/day (DOE)
