An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Fleet & Transport to come and join a busy client in South Yorkshire.

The main duties of the experienced Head of Fleet & Transport are:

• Provide leadership and manage day-to-day operations of the fleet, workshops, and home to school transport services../
• Ensure service continuity and compliance with all statutory, regulatory, and safeguarding requirements.
• Oversee the fleet replacement program, focusing on the transition to electric and hybrid vehicles, and manage the implementation of telematics and route optimisation.
• Support major ongoing projects and potential service restructure, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and minimal disruption.
• Manage stakeholder relationships across various departments and ensure effective communication and collaboration.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Significant experience in managing fleet, transport, or similar operational services within a local authority or public sector environment.
• Proven track record of leading services during periods of change, risk, or instability.
• Strong understanding of fleet and transport compliance, including statutory and safeguarding responsibilities.
• Demonstrable experience in managing operational teams and performance management.
• Experience in overseeing large-scale projects, such as fleet replacement and technology implementation.
• Excellent risk management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective stakeholder management abilities, capable of engaging with senior levels credibly.
