Job Title: Graduate Site Engineer
Location: West Midlands
Reporting To: Project / Contracts Manager
Salary: Up to £30,000
 
Role Overview:
 
The Site engineer will be responsible for shadowing the contracts team and becoming familiar with site activities and management systems. The trainee will actively participate in various site-related tasks, gaining valuable hands-on experience in the construction industry.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
- Carry out pre-contract site surveys to gather necessary data and information.
- Shadow the site induction and Toolbox Talk (TBT) processes, attending all those carried out by the Site Manager.
- Become conversant with and understand the scope of work to be carried out on the site.
- Understand the overall site program and assist in creating fortnightly programs.
- Become familiar with and understand cost recording procedures to support efficient project management.
- Maintain accurate measurement records of works completed on the site.
- Follow the site quality plan and keep records as required to ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Assist the Contracts Engineer with site testing of materials and other related tasks.
- Collaborate with the procurement team to support the ordering of Plant & Materials.
- Handle site administration and recording keeping, such as maintaining Site Diaries, Plant & Labour Returns.
- Complete health & safety, quality & non-conformance site audit forms when required.
- Familiarize with and understand the form of contract that the site is operating under.
- Ensure professionalism, integrity, and quality are maintained throughout all activities.
- Contribute to and uphold our uncompromising health & safety standards by becoming well-versed in the company's SHEQ procedures and other relevant protocols.
- Support & contribute to our sustainability and social value goals in all project activities.
- Assist with and promote our mission of providing a safe and caring workplace for all employees.
- Perform any other duties as reasonably required in line with the trainee's development.
Person Specification:
 
Knowledge:
 
- Basic engineering principles
- Familiarity with CDM Regulations (Construction Design and Management Regulations)
 
Skills & Abilities:
 
- Accurate record-keeping abilities
- Strong written & verbal reporting skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Collaborative approach to communication with Clients, Supply Chain & Colleagues
 
Experience:
- Some prior experience or a strong desire to begin a career within the Construction Industry.
 
Qualifications:
 
- CSCS Card (Achieved or working towards)
- Relevant Degree / Higher, advanced or foundation qualification in a related field.
- Ambition to work towards Professional Accreditation relevant to the role.
- Full UK Driver's Licence.
