Job description

Flood Risk & Drainage Engineer
Fully Remote (UK-based)
Are you a Flood Risk & Drainage Engineer who wants the freedom of fully remote working without losing exposure to exciting, complex projects? Imagine having the flexibility to shape your workday while still being at the forefront of flood risk, SuDS, and drainage design across the UK.
I'm working with a dynamic consultancy that has established itself as a specialist in water, environmental and civil engineering services. Their expertise spans flood risk assessments, SuDS design, drainage strategies, highways, water neutrality, and more - serving clients that range from private homeowners and architects to major developers and local authorities.
As a Flood Risk & Drainage Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on projects that truly make an impact: unlocking planning permissions in challenging flood zones, designing sustainable drainage solutions, and navigating the complexities of environmental regulation. The best part? This role is fully remote, giving you the flexibility to manage your work-life balance while staying deeply connected to a collaborative team of experts.
What You'll Be Doing
·Leading and delivering flood risk assessments, SuDS, and drainage strategies for a wide variety of projects.
·Running and reviewing flood modelling, interpreting data to influence designs and planning outcomes.
·Producing high-quality technical reports and submissions, including flood risk assessments, drainage designs, and supporting planning documentation.
·Engaging with clients, planners, regulators, and consultants to ensure projects are technically sound and policy-compliant.
·Supporting and mentoring junior colleagues to maintain best practice and technical excellence.

What We're Looking For
·Proven experience as a Flood Risk & Drainage Engineer, ideally 3-5+ years in consultancy or similar environment.
·Strong technical grounding in SuDS design, surface water / foul drainage, and flood risk assessment methodologies.
·Familiarity with hydraulic / hydrology modelling tools and UK regulatory frameworks (EA, LLFA, planning policy).
·Degree-qualified in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or related discipline); chartership (or working towards it) with CIWEM/ICE is a strong advantage.
·Clear communicator with the ability to collaborate remotely while building trust with clients and regulators.

What You'll Get
·Fully remote working with true flexibility to work from anywhere in the UK.
·Competitive salary and benefits package.
·The opportunity to work alongside chartered experts and learn from highly experienced professionals.
·Exposure to a broad range of project types, from small residential extensions to large-scale infrastructure.
·Career progression opportunities, whether you want to specialise technically or step into leadership.

If you're a Flood Risk & Drainage Engineer ready to take on new challenges while enjoying the benefits of fully remote working, this is your chance to make a real difference.
