Estimator / Senior Estimator - Water Sector

Location: Southern Water Region (Hybrid options depending on project needs)
Contract Length: 5 Months plus
Rate/Salary: Dependent on experience

Carrington West is recruiting for an experienced Estimator to support our client on a key contract within the Southern Water region. This is a 5 month contract position, offering an excellent opportunity to work on essential water infrastructure projects, potential it could be longer. 

Role Overview
As an Estimator, you will provide commercial and estimating support across a range of bids and ongoing workstreams. You will play a key role in ensuring accurate pricing, robust risk management and strong commercial governance. The position will involve close liaison with suppliers, subcontractors, internal teams and senior management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide estimating support for bids and live projects to ensure accurate, competitive and robust pricing.
  • Work closely with the Senior Management Team to advise on commercial risks, opportunities and strategic considerations related to bids.
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations and produce accurate cost data.
  • Review supplier and subcontractor terms to ensure alignment with client requirements, assessing any deviations where needed.
  • Prioritise workload effectively to meet business deadlines and support wider team outputs.
  • Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including operational teams and clients.
  • Identify areas for improvement and support the development of enhanced estimating processes and systems.

Key Requirements

  • Experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator, ideally within the water sector or wider utilities and civils environment.
  • Water and wastewater experience, minimum 3 years.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Excel, with strong numeracy and data handling skills.
  • Degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to identify risks and support decision making.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to engage confidently with stakeholders.
  • Good understanding of estimating methodologies, procurement processes and contract requirements.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
