Are you an experienced Estimator with a multi-disciplinary rail project experience?

Are you an ambitious individual looking to join an international engineering company and support them on their portfolio of projects with key rail clients and help build up their estimating function?

A leading international engineering business is seeking an experienced Rail Estimator to join their team in London.
The successful candidate will be responsible for estimating the cost of construction and maintenance projects in the rail industry covering a range of disciplines from track, civils, M&E, station works etc.
You will work closely with their project management and engineering teams to develop accurate and competitive estimates that meet the needs of our clients.

My client has a requirement for two types of estimators:

  • Senior estimator that can join the business and hit the ground running, mentoring more junior members of the business.
  • Managing estimator who is keen to join their business and set up the Estimating function building upon a blank slate. This is an exciting opportunity for any senior level estimator to make a name for themselves and make a team their own.

Salary: 

Senior Estimator: £60,000 to £80,000
Managing Estimator: £80,000 to £100,000

Location: Occasional attendance in the London office, remainder from home.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review project plans and specifications to determine the scope of work.
  • Conduct site visits to assess project conditions and requirements.
  • Identify materials, labour, and equipment needs for each project.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and proposals up to values of £1billion.
  • Work with subcontractors and vendors to obtain pricing and quotes.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of all estimates and proposals.
  • Mentor more junior members of staff.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in estimating.
  • Eagerness to grow and develop.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in network rail contracts would be an advantage.
  • Track/civils and M&E experience advantageous.
  • Chartership desirable.
  • Rail project experience essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to support training and development of intermediate members of staff.

Additional Information:
This is a two stage interview process, one on Teams and the second face to face in London. My client is looking to interview within a week of application.
