Role: Engineering Manager - Water sector
Location: Reading
Salary: Up to £68,000 + £5400 Car allowance
Start Date: ASAP
A client of mine that specialises in MEICA Engineering within the water sector are looking for an Engineering Manager to join their team.
The Engineering Manager will provide central management and support to the Engineering Heads of Departments across the Company; prioritising strategy and governance to achieve compliance and consistency. This is a strategic and technically orientated position, focused on the performance of the Engineering Group across the company portfolio.
The EM will demonstrate excellent commercial and contractual aptitude, playing a pivotal role in ensuring effective commercial delivery of specialist projects (mainly within the UK Water Industry) with individual values ranging from c£1K to c£5m, and must have a committed and flexible 'can do' attitude ensuring successful delivery of a variety of Electrical / Instrumentation / Controls / SCADA / Telemetry (with some minor mechanical / civils) related schemes.
He/she will be responsible for overseeing the complete project and programme management of multiple projects across the JRP client portfolio, guiding the Heads of Departments and assisting in the commercial aspects of each project when required.
Responsibilities include:
·Providing guidance and supervision to the Head of Departments.
·Provide a high level of technical expertise and support to Engineering staff to ensure their skills and competence levels continually improve and to identify training needs.
·Overseeing the planning of resource availability, and skills requirements liaising with internal staff to secure multi-disciplined internal labour
·Regular meetings with the Head of Departments to ensure project visibility and progress
·Providing regular feedback on operational issues / concerns to stakeholders and senior managers
·Working closely with the Financial Controller to ensure accurate project financial reporting, meeting financial budgets and targets and assisting with contractual matters relating to finance.
·Monitoring project performance
·Ensuring that all Health & Safety processes and procedures are followed
·Improve efficiency within the Engineering Group and ensure each department KPI's are met
·Project contract negotiation assistance as required
·Ensure the safety of all company employees, its clients, and the general public
·Ensure that all Company Policies & Procedures are adhered to
·Uphold the Company's brand name & reputation and ensure it is not damaged
·Follow the procedures as laid out within the Integrated Management Systems of the company
·Maintain company confidentiality as required
Skills and experience:
·Technical qualifications - sound electrical, controls and mechanical knowledge.
·Water Industry knowledge and experience
·Excellent organisational and time management skills
·Excellent written and verbal communication skills
·Excellent budget management
·Experienced commercial negotiator
·Strong leadership skills
·Good level of IT literacy with an experience of Powerpoint, Outlook, Excel & Word
·Working knowledge of the Construction Design & Management Regulations
·A proven ability to continuously improve systems of work for the benefit of the company.
·Experienced in analysing problems and delivering solutions
