Job description

Our client has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Engineer to join their Construction team.
 
The role will involve supporting Senior staff members in the construction of highway schemes to include (but not limited to) Public Realm improvements, carriageway and footway repairs and reconstruction, drainage, vehicle restraint systems, temporary works, traffic management, road markings and signs, minor and major improvement works. Reporting to the Senior Engineer and deputising when required, the role will manage the implementation of a portfolio of programmes of work and ensuring delivery.
 
Responsibilities:
 
- Reporting to the Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for the delivery, either through supply chain or direct labour, of various construction projects for highways, drainage, flooding and a variety of other work streams
- You will be responsible for resolving technical issues as they occur for a range of areas across the project and for the monitoring of progress.
- You will be expected to attend progress meetings and meet with stakeholders as appropriate during construction to understand and resolve issues arising.
- Required to be mobile and able to attend all site and depot locations within Buckinghamshire
- To prepare and assist in the management and monitoring of works programmes or services. To ensure that schemes are delivered on time and within budget.
- To ensure speedy and courteous responses to queries and complaints is in accordance with relevant targets and standards.
- You will be expected to attend progress meetings, public exhibitions, and public inquiries
- Attend site for site surveys
- To assist with the management and provision of technical support for staff dealing with all aspects of the service.
- To aid the functional leader in relation to all aspects covered within the group
- Liaising with other Teams and Services to ensure coordinated service delivery.
- Meeting agreed deadlines
- Working as an integral member of a design delivery team
- Understands the overall functions, aims and directions of the contract, and how their specific area of responsibility fits into those objectives.
- Proactively undertake and record Continuing Professional Development

- Support Health, Safety, Environment and Quality
- To carry out any other reasonable duties that may be directed or implied from time to time commensurate to the post and/or organisational requirements.
 
 
Experience:
 
- Degree in Civil Engineering or related subject
- Membership of or working towards membership of a relevant Professional Institution and demonstrate evidence of continuous professional development
- A suitable level of site and project management experience is required
- Knowledge of design procedures, guidance and standards and good practice documents including the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB), Specification for Highway (SHW), Manual for Streets (MfS), Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions (TSRGD) and Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs).
- Knowledge and application of Health and Safety legislation including Construction (Design & Management) Regulations.
- Conversant with Microsoft applications - Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint and use of specialist software such as AUTOCAD and its range of complimentary packages.
- Knowledge of budgetary governance, management and control measures.
- Desirable experience with MX/3D Cad, and/or drainage design capabilities (WINDES or equivalent)
- Driving licence
- CSCS, NRSWA and SMSTS card holder preferred.
