Electrical Project Engineer  
Location: Lancaster  
Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum + benefits
 
Join a leading Tier One contractor delivering major United Utilities infrastructure projects across the Lancaster region. This role is focused on electrical engineering delivery on wastewater treatment sites, supporting projects valued up to £50 million. You'll take ownership of electrical design coordination, site delivery, commissioning, and quality across complex MEICA systems, all while receiving full support for further learning, development, and career progression.

What you'll be doing
 
·Supporting the delivery of electrical and MEICA elements across wastewater treatment projects from design through to commissioning.
·Reviewing and coordinating electrical designs, drawings, and specifications to ensure compliance with project and client standards.
·Overseeing installation of LV systems, control panels, instrumentation, pumps, MCCs, cabling, containment, and treatment process equipment.
·Managing electrical subcontractors, ensuring safe, high-quality installation and adherence to relevant standards.
·Carrying out site inspections, quality checks, and technical reviews of electrical works.
·Supporting FATs, SATs, commissioning activities, and handover documentation.
·Ensuring full compliance with United Utilities, WIMES, DSEAR/ATEX, and environmental requirements.
·Working closely with design teams to resolve technical queries and optimise engineering solutions.
·Monitoring progress, programme, and technical delivery for electrical work packages.
·Supporting procurement activities, including reviewing materials, equipment, and supplier technical submissions.
·Preparing reports, technical documentation, and contributing to project engineering meetings.
·Ensuring all electrical works are delivered safely, with strong adherence to site procedures, RAMS, and CDM regulations.
·Building effective relationships with site teams, subcontractors, and United Utilities representatives.
 
What you'll bring
 
Experience
 
·Proven experience as an Electrical Engineer or Electrical Project Engineer within utilities, wastewater, or major infrastructure projects.
·Strong understanding of MEICA/EICA systems and electrical installations on water or wastewater treatment sites.
·Experience delivering LV systems, instrumentation, control, and process equipment.
·Background working with Tier One contractors or within regulated water sectors is desirable.
Qualifications
 
·Degree, HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline.
·ECS/CSCS card.
·18th Edition Wiring Regulations (preferred).
·COMPEX or ATEX/DSEAR awareness (beneficial but training can be provided).
·Full UK driving licence.
Skills & Competencies
 
Technical:
 
·Strong understanding of electrical installation, testing, and commissioning.
·Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, SLDs, and technical documentation.
·Knowledge of WIMES standards and United Utilities specifications (advantageous).
·Good understanding of CDM, safety procedures, and construction regulations.
